Should You Outsource for Video Production?

Should You Outsource for Video Production?

There are a lot of elements involved with video production. Many businesses don’t have their own in-house video production crew, actors, or equipment, but some have marketing departments with a few extra creative skills, and can often find ways to create videos on a smaller budget. When it comes to deciding who will work on a particular video project, it can be difficult to determine what should be produced in-house, and what may need to be outsourced to a professional videographer.

Actors and Performers
If your video requires a lot of dialogue and action, it’s possible you may need to hire a few professional actors to create your video. Many actors are freelancers, and it can actually be fairly easy to find one in your area on short notice, if you don’t have any talented employees. If you live in city or town with a big art, film, or theatre industry – Chapel Hill or Pittsboro – you may even be able to find actors for free! If you don’t have someone in mind, the best way to find the right actor for cheap is to put up an advertisement online. If your video does not require a lot of performance, or none at all, save a few bucks by convincing an employee to stand in or offer his or her voice to narrate. Receptionists often make great voiceover artists!

Video Production Crew
There are so many talented videographers and production crews out there, it can be difficult to choose the right team for your video project. If you don’t have the creative video expertise in-house, outsourcing this part of the creative process can help your project move more quickly, with higher quality. Many video professionals work freelance and are fairly affordable, should you need to outsource for these special skills. Even if you are able to write a script, storyboard, and plan the production within your place of business, it is probably a good idea to hire a professional video crew to capture your footage and move the production along in a timely manner.

Video Editing
Perhaps the most time-intensive and technologically challenging part of the video production process, video editing should almost always be outsourced if you do not have an experienced video editor in-house. To ensure the color, audio, and natural flow of your video is technically sound and aesthetically correct, you should hire a professional video editor with many years of experience.
