Different Types of Corporate Videos

Thinking about creating a corporate video for your company? Often, the first question that comes to mind is, “What should my corporate video be about?” It’s very common to come up with ideas that seem appealing or interesting to you, but are actually very ineffective at captivating your target audience. Many corporate videos are boring, too long, and ultimately a waste of money if you don’t do them correctly. Here are a few great ideas to help you develop a successful corporate video that will be worth the time and investment, and help you achieve your goals.

1. Company Culture & Recruiting Videos
If your goal is to hire more of the right people, create some videos that show your ideal employee how great it is to work for you. Give potential hires the “behind-the-scenes” look at your corporate culture, so they can see exactly what it’s like to work with you and other would-be coworkers. Find your happiest employees and get candid, one-on-one interviews where they explain the best things about working for your company, tell funny company stories, and share their own interests and challenges. This makes your brand seem more real and approachable; and, if you include the video with the online job application form, you’ll ultimately have a better list of applicants to choose from.

2. Conference and Seminar Videos
New product or software coming out? Host a video conference to demonstrate how it works! Learned something new at a local seminar? Create a video webinar where you can share what you learned with others in your industry. To inspire people to act, ask your audience “What have you learned, and what are you going to do about it?” Be sure to record the entire discussion – and people’s answers – and compile everything into a brief video, which you can use to market your next video conference, or send to people who were unable to attend the conference.

3. Company Profile Videos
One of the most common types of corporate videos, a company profile is meant to tell your target market who you are and what value you bring to them as consumers. Use these videos on the homepage of your website, or as loops in your office lobby area, to essentially provide an “elevator pitch” for your company’s products or services. Tell your target consumer about your company’s history, core values, successful case studies, and how you have exactly what they need.

4. Product, Service, and Marketing Videos
Another popular genre of corporate videography, promotional videos showcasing your best products and services are a vital part of your marketing strategy. Also called product demonstration videos, these brief videos show your audience what your product or service does, and how it benefits the consumer. You can also create “How it’s Made” and Troubleshooting videos, if applicable.

5. Customer Relations Videos
Want to connect with your target demographic? Consider some videos that engage them directly! Create a “Client of the Month” series – or create a video case study that highlights a customer’s specific success story achieved while using your product or service. These take a video testimonial reel from mundane and repetitive, to personal and shareworthy – your ultimate goal when trying to improve word-of-mouth referrals. You can also use videos to ask your consumers engaging questions and start a discussion about your brand. Video responses are one of the most effective forms of customer feedback – encourage them to interact with you!
