Careful planning and detailed preparation is necessary for creating a successful video marketing campaign for an online store. Here are four important tips to help you create effective videos for your online business.

Make a point to write down exactly what your marketing goals are, and how you plan on tracking and measuring your key performance indicators. Do you want more sales? More newsletter signups? More fans or followers? Sometimes, making an entertaining or informative video simply isn’t enough. Your video should have a clear, realistic purpose. For example, a homepage video for your website could alert online shoppers to new sale items, or special offers. A how-to video can present your brand as a reputable company in your specific industry, teaching others the ins and outs of your business while demonstrating strong knowledge and credible authority.

2. Know how you are going to measure the effectiveness of your video.
How are you going to measure success in reaching your defined goals? Perhaps you can measure an increase in sales for a particular item, the number of newsletter subscribers, or your growing fan base.
